The Missions: San Francisco and San José

Unless the mission is oriented by charity, that is, unless it springs from a profound act of divine love, it risks being reduced to mere philanthropic and social activity...Consequently, being missionaries means loving God with all one's heart, even to the point, if necessary, of dying for him. - Pope Benedict XVI

finally. we're back online, but alas, there is something wrong with the island. i think it bobbles in the waves, but for whatever reason, the high-speed systems will not hold a stable signal, so it's back to the old, slower direcway. at least it works.

we have had a couple of big weeks here in banica, headlined with the ordination of father pedro, our long-time seminarian. we had about 1,000 people, two bishops, 20-30 priests, and all things being equal it went off without a hitch.

i'm sorry i didn't get any pictures, but i was too involved with the proceedings to carry my camera. there were a couple of visitors down here who took pictures, so i hope they send me some so i can post.

so, there you have it - we're enjoying the dog days of summer and getting ready for the arrival of 50 youth for a week long summer camp - should be loads of fun...
