The Missions: San Francisco and San José

Unless the mission is oriented by charity, that is, unless it springs from a profound act of divine love, it risks being reduced to mere philanthropic and social activity...Consequently, being missionaries means loving God with all one's heart, even to the point, if necessary, of dying for him. - Pope Benedict XVI

sorry about the lack of blog yesterday, i was busy - this morning i get to drive 1 hour, then walk for 2 up a mountain, then say Mass and then walk for another hour and say another Mass, then walk back to the truck and drive home. it will be a long morning/afternoon, but it should be good walking through the mountains with great views and i might even find a clear river to swim in...in other news, my spirits are once again high and i am enjoying myself immensly. i spoke with these five teenagers yesterday who are into working out at the "gym" they have for the american groups that come down, and they are loyal about working out, and they are pumped to box. we'll start at soon as the stuff gets here (about a week and a half).

in more disturbing news - the effects of the pink sheets continue to be manifested in strange ways - i have this urge to clean the bathroom. however, i'm still avoiding the laundry, although we do have a wasaher and dryer...
