The Missions: San Francisco and San José

Unless the mission is oriented by charity, that is, unless it springs from a profound act of divine love, it risks being reduced to mere philanthropic and social activity...Consequently, being missionaries means loving God with all one's heart, even to the point, if necessary, of dying for him. - Pope Benedict XVI

things took a turn for the worse last night. latest counts in the country:

20 dead.

3500 homeless

48 hours of rain

still no electricity.

small and large bridges down.

we are all just fine out here in the highlands. it's all the rain that landed on the southern side of the mountain range that has flowed down south and the rivers and towns are all flooded. it's still raining, so hopefully it'll stop soon and we can all dry out.
