The Missions: San Francisco and San José

Unless the mission is oriented by charity, that is, unless it springs from a profound act of divine love, it risks being reduced to mere philanthropic and social activity...Consequently, being missionaries means loving God with all one's heart, even to the point, if necessary, of dying for him. - Pope Benedict XVI

time for some good news:

we had electricity for about 10 minutes, that means the main line is fixed.

it appears as if the road is now passable.

we sent, via dave kirby and his 2.5 army truck, 30,000 servings of dry soup to the needest of the suffering.

the real damage will be the impact on agricultural production. some people are claiming destruction rates of 80%, which will make things scare, especially since we're entering the dry season. so, pray that the crops can recover.
